Hardware-Near Embedded Developer

We at ALTEN Gothenburg are currently looking for a hardware-near embedded developer with a focus on software, who preferably also has complementary experience in IT/cybersecurity. The role involves developing robust and secure software for real-time systems, often in close collaboration with hardware and FPGA-based solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of software in C/C++ for embedded and FPGA-based systems
  • Implementation of control logic and calibration functions in software and, if necessary, firmware (VHDL)
  • Documentation, testing, integration, and verification of functions
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of new and existing functions
  • Working with hardware in a lab environment
  • Code reviews, unit tests, and improvement work
  • Collaboration in agile teams as well as knowledge sharing and mentorship

COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, embedded systems, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in hardware-near embedded programming.
  • Very good knowledge of C and C++.
  • Understanding of FPGA-based systems and the design requirements involved.
  • Experience with Git and preferably CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins).

PREFERABLE

  • Knowledge of Python and/or Matlab.
  • Firmware development (VHDL).
  • Experience with agile methodologies.
  • Experience with microservices, software architecture, or backend development (Go, Java, Camunda).
  • Background in Cyber Security / IT security / Information security.
  • Experience in technical leadership or mentoring junior developers.

OTHER

The role may involve working with classified information and requires a passed background check (RK).

Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
